-This Week's Tastings-
Fri, April 20th-Springtime Wines!
Sat, April 21st-Wormwood Rye!

This Friday We Welcome
John  From Vision Wines
Pouring Springtime delights.

Castillo Perelada Blanc Pescador
This refreshing, slightly effervescent wine is made from Macabeo, Xarello and Parellada, the same grapes used to make Cava. But in this case, the wine is bottled at very low pressure resulting in a light sparkle and 11.5% alcohol. We're not talking complexity here, just a wine that's perfect for your park picnic. If your a fan of Vinho Verde, you're going to love the Blanc Pescador.

Walnut Block Sauvignon Blanc
Rose may be the go-to warm weather wine but New Zealand Sauvignon is not far behind. Walnut Block, located in in Marlborough, is named for the oldest walnut trees in the area which tower above the Sauvignon Blanc vineyards. Sauvignon Blanc from this region is very popular but also has a reputation for being in your face. It has been likened  to really good music played way too loud. Well, if that theory is true, Spinal Tap's Nigel Tufnel would be disappointed that this does not go to 11. Even though it does have the intense fruit these wines are known for, it's also smooth with well integrated acidity.

Yard Dog White 2016
This white blend from Australia and is a blend of Verdelho, Riesling and Chardonnay. It's unoaked which means the fruit is going to shine. The aromatics and palate bursts with stone and tropical fruit with Riesling adding fresh acidity. A springtime delight!

This Saturday We Welcome
Christina From
Wormwood Rye

Standard Wormwood Rye
Made by New York Craft Spirits in Brooklyn, Standard Wormwood Rye is distilled with local grains and organic wormwood then aged in American and French oak. A nose of rye spice and wormwood leads to a palate of rye spices, toasty oak, and butterscotch. This very unique Rye Whiskey can be enjoyed on its own or mixed.

The Johnnie Walker Black Label is easily one of the most instantly recognizable labels in the world of whisky.  For over a century this iconic blend is recognized as the benchmark for all other deluxe blends. Johnnie Walker Black is created  using only Scotch whiskies aged for a minimum of 12 years from the four corners of Scotland. This tradition has historically given the Black Label it's unmistakably smooth, deep, complex character.

In all this time Johnnie Walker has celebrated taking steps forward with their message of "Keep Walking" and their Striding Man icon.  However, traditions are meant to be challenged, and at times challenged traditions change. Such a happening is occurring in 2018 with the Striding Man icon.

This year, the Jane Walker icon will debut on a special edition of the Black Label blend.  As stated on the Johnnie Walker website:

"In recognition of women who lead the way, we are unveiling Jane Walker, the first-ever female iteration of the brand's iconic Striding Man logo, in celebration of the many achievements of women. As a brand that has stood for progress for nearly 200 years, Johnnie Walker is proud to take this next step forward by introducing Jane Walker as another symbol of the brand's commitment to progress.

For every Jane Walker Edition bottle produced, Johnnie Walker will donate $1 to organizations supporting women's progress, up to $250,000."

We here at Windsor Wine Merchants have received our allotment of this historic Special Edition of the Jane Black Label.  We along with Johnnie Walker proudly shout:

#WalkWithJane by sharing Jane Walker on social media.
